She strongly values life-long learning and demonstrating its importance to her students. Anastasio is very passionate about Science and thus she is the advisor of the High School Science Club. She believes her students' learning is enriched by her skill at designing and executing guided inquiries, and by her ability to effectively collaborate with others (teachers and community members) on projects integrating various student interests. Her goal as a teacher is to inspire students to continue studying science and become innovators. In addition, she was a faculty associate at Elmira College where she taught chemistry labs and introductory chemistry. Before teaching, she worked for Procter & Gamble as a research associate in drug design/development for osteoarthritis and congestive heart failure. Anastasio has been teaching for 10 years for the Horseheads School District. Anastasio earned her BS in Biochemistry from Cornell University and her MSEd from Elmira College. Abdullah achieved National Board Certification as an Early Childhood Generalist. She has served on the board for the Teacher Center of Broome County. She has also mentored teachers, hosted students from SUNY Broome, Oneonta, and Binghamton University. Abdullah serves on her school’s Student Support Team, grade-level leader, Parent Teacher Organization, PARP committee, and District Professional Development Committee.
